From within or from behind, a light shines through us upon things, and makes us aware that we are nothing, but the light is all.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I know it’s time to be cutting back those allium heads that are done flowering.  I’m delaying as long as possible.  The allium bed was in shadows when I went out to take my daily photo but a ray of sun wasn’t far away so I took the reflector out and borrowed the sunlight for where I wanted it to be.

In this picture from yesterday, you can see the swarms of little gnats that circulate in the sunbeams.  They mix and mingle in a tumbleweed of sorts that shifts this way or that with the breeze… does it serve a purpose or are they just doing their morning warm-ups?
